The Cottey esports team is back in action this semester. Coming off of a Valorant NACE Divisional championship, spirits and aspirations are high for this semester. The Comets will be competing in Overwatch and Super Smash Bros this semester. 

Overwatch is the first team to have matches this spring, falling to Old Dominion in the opener 1-3. The roster has shifted a bit since last semester, but the group is beginning to gel well. The 2nd matchup of the semester saw Cottey take on Manchester University, a team the Comets face often in NACE competition. This time, it was Cottey prevailing in a nailbiter, 3-2. The win evens the Overwatch squads record to 1-1 on the season.

Sophomore Captain Kyleigh Sigears has taken an active leadership role and is really setting the tone for the team this semester. Freshman Circe Tosta has developed her skills and made her way into the starting lineup for the Overwatch squad. The veteran presence this semester is Junior Ella Sapinoso, who has been a jack of all trades for the esports team on multiple game titles. In the tilt against Manchester, Kyleigh Sigears secured 4 out of 5 Plays of the Game, denoting her impactful play.

Super Smash Bros will face off with Missouri State on Thursday for a 6pm tilt. Overwatch returns to action next week against the University of North Texas-Dallas. Fans can stream the Overwatch matches on twitch.tv/cotteyesports.
