The Cottey College Comets Flag Football program had a greatseason in the KCAC Conference, with six players earning spots on the All-Conference Teams.
Leading the way for the Comets was Mackenzie Murdoch, who earned First Team honors as a Utility Player and Punt Team Specialist.
Freshman Shamese Lee was named to the Second Team Defense, showcasing her skills as a standout Defensive Back. Two freshmen, Emma Bruce and Joliette Johnson, earned Honorable Mention on offense. Bruce, playing Center, and Johnson, playing Wide Receiver, showed promise for the future of the program with their impressive play.
The Honorable Mention Defense category featured three Comets: Mackenzie Murdoch, Angie Cruz, and Alyssa Hollis. Murdoch, this time as a Linebacker, joined Cruz and Hollis in earning recognition for their contributions to the team's defensive success. Cruz, a sophomore from Daytona Beach, Florida, and Hollis, a sophomore from Las Vegas, Nevada, were integral parts of the team's defensive unit.
Finally, Alyssa Hollis was recognized for her versatility and special teams play, earning Honorable Mention as a Utility and Punt Team Specialist.
In addition to their on-field success, the Comets also had five student-athletes earn recognition as KCAC Scholar Athletes. Chandler Taul, Daniella Goodridge, Laurencia Botts, Mackenzie Murdoch, and Yannis Rodriguez all earned the All-KCAC Scholar-Athlete Academic Award, which is given to sophomores or above with a 3.25 GPA or higher.
