Comets Trio earn NFCA All-Region Honors

The Cottey College Softball program added another milestone to its historic 2026 campaign as three Comets were named to the NFCA All‑Region Team, recognizing their excellence, consistency, and impact throughout the season.

Amelia Gassman earned First Team All‑Region, while Addison Tippie and Alma Garcia were selected to the Second Team, giving Cottey one of the strongest regional showings in program history.

Gassman Named NFCA First Team All‑Region

Few players in the country commanded the circle — and the batter's box — the way senior Amelia Gassman did this season. Her selection to the NFCA First Team reflects a year defined by dominance, poise, and leadership.

Gassman delivered clutch performances in conference play, anchored the pitching staff with elite command, and provided timely offense throughout the season. Her ability to elevate in big moments made her one of the most feared two‑way players in the region.

Her First Team honor places her among the top players in the NAIA and cements her legacy as one of the most decorated athletes in Cottey softball history. Gassman was also named the American Midwest Conference Player of the Year.

Tippie Earns Second Team All‑Region After Breakout Season

Freshman pitcher Addison Tippie continued her rise as one of the AMC's premier arms, earning NFCA Second Team All‑Region recognition. Tippie's season was marked by consistency, competitive fire, and a string of high‑impact outings that helped propel Cottey to one of its best records ever.

Whether starting or entering in relief, Tippie brought a steady presence to the circle. Her ability to generate weak contact, work ahead in counts, and compete deep into games made her an invaluable piece of the Comets' success.

Her All‑Region selection signals a bright future — and a foundation Cottey can continue to build around.

Garcia Named Second Team All‑Region After Stellar Offensive Season

Sophomore infielder Alma Garcia earned NFCA Second Team All‑Region honors after emerging as one of the most reliable and productive hitters in the lineup. Garcia's combination of power, discipline, and situational hitting made her a constant threat at the plate.

She delivered in key moments all season long — driving in runs, extending innings, and setting the tone with her competitive approach. Defensively, her versatility and steady glove added even more value to an already impressive résumé.

Garcia's recognition highlights her growth and her importance to the Comets' offensive identity.
