It was a day later than originally scheduled, but ice and snow weren't going to stop the Cottey Comets from continuing their winning ways. The Comets traveled to the Trojans, and came home with the victory 75-44.
Despite the final score, it did not look like the game was going to go that way early. The Trojans hopped out to an early lead and at the end of the first quarter led 19-12. Ashlyn Vermeer had 8 points and 6 rebounds in the first quarter alone. The 2nd quarter would be a different story, as the Comets came alive to dominate the frame, and take a 32-25 lead into halftime. Returning from the break was more of the same as the Comets began to run away with the contest, eventually finishing 75-44.
The Comets were led by Sarah Hunt who put up a season high 28 points in the effort. She was joined in double figures by Sara Montesdeoca with 11, and Dally Coulter with 12 points respectively. Montesdeoca also dished out 8 assists. Coulter put up a double-double by recording 10 rebounds in the contest. Lauren Jones came off the bench to put 8 points on the board, including two 3-pointers.
The win lifts the Comets to 10-5 overall, with a 2-3 record in AMC play. They return to action at Home on Saturday January 13th at 1pm against Missouri Baptist.
