Five Cottey Comets received recognition at the American Midwest Conference banquet preceding the conference tournament today, while Cottey also placed 10 on the Academic All-Conference list.

Comets leading scorer Junior Sarah Hunt was honored with a 2nd Team All-Conference selection. Hunt recently surpassed 1000 collegiate points, a significant mark for scorers. Teammates Autumn Wallace, Dally Coulter, and Sara Montesdeoca were all Honorable Mention honorees as well. Freshman Jya Barksdale made the conference's All-Freshman team in her debut season with the Comets. 

The Cottey Basketball program is also taking care of business in the classroom, where 10 members of the squad received Academic All-Conference Honors: Laurencia Botts, Lesley Chalmers, Dally Coulter, Sarah Hunt, Karley Painter, Lauren Jones, Claudia Hadlock, Jya Barksdale, Akyria James, and Ally Potts. 

The Comets have had their best season in NAIA competition, as well as in American Midwest Conference action. 17 wins matches 2nd all time in program history for single season wins. 9 conference wins is a new high watermark for the program as well. 

Cottey will take on Williams Baptist in the Quarterfinals of the conference tournament, starting Friday.
