The Cottey College golf team delivered its final performances of the spring, finishing 5th overall at the American Midwest Conference Championship. All four Comets landed inside the top 25, showcasing depth, composure, and steady scoring across the 36‑hole championship.
Crutcher Leads the Charge With 16th‑Place Finish
Freshman Allyssa Crutcher set the tone for Cottey, earning 16th place in a field packed with experienced conference talent. Her week included two birdies, each coming at pivotal moments to keep her round on track. Crutcher's consistency once again anchored the Comets' lineup.
Nail Posts Career‑Best 36‑Hole Total, Takes 19th
Freshman Vanessa Nail continued her upward trajectory, finishing 19th while recording a personal‑best 36‑hole tournament score. Her highlight came on a par‑3 where she drained a 35‑foot birdie putt, one of the most memorable shots of the championship. Nail's improvement throughout the season showed up in full force on the conference stage.
Robison and LaNear Keep Cottey's Pack Tight
The Comets' strength came from how tightly their lineup clustered on the leaderboard:
-
Audrey Robison – 21st
-
Ellaina LaNear – 22nd
Robison delivered one of her most composed tournament efforts of the spring, while LaNear capped her season with a solid year of experience now under her belt, continuing to prove her reliability in championship settings.
Momentum Heading Into the Offseason
With all four golfers inside the top 22 and multiple personal bests on the board, Cottey closed the AMC Championship with confidence and clear momentum. The performance reflects a roster that's growing together, competing tightly, and building a foundation for an even stronger 2026-27 season.
