Nevada MO.-The Cottey College Flag Football program look to keep the momentum on their side as they come off an impressive win to begin the 2023 campaign. Up next for the Comets is their first Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Opponent, the Bethel College Thrashers. 

The Thrashers are coming off of an opening day loss to Kansas Wesleyan on Wednesday.

The Comets are coming off an impressive come from behind victory against Fort Scott Community College on March 1. The Comets would find themselves at 3rd and goal from the 5 yard line with 42 seconds left the game down by 5.  Amya Corulla Would roll to her left and find Joliette Johnson in the left corner of the end zone. A 2 point conversion by Corulla to Daniella Goodridge would push the lead to 7. The defense would hold on for the last 32 seconds of the game to secure an opening day victory. Corulla would finish the game with 142 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns. She would also add 42 rushing yards and 1 rushing touchdown. Angelina Cruz would be the anchor for the Comets on the defensive end gathering 7 tackles, 1 interception, 1 sack, and 1 tackle for loss. 

The game will be held at Logan Field on the campus of Nevada High School in Nevada, Missouri on Saturday,  March 11 at 1:00 PM.
